InPED following high performance anion-exchange chromatography (HPAEC) or reversed-phase chromatography (RPLC) has been used to detect biologically important carboxylic acids. Detection limits ranging from 1-40 muM were obtained when performing HPAEC-InPED using a mobile phase composed of 0.1 M NaOH plus ca. 25 ppm sorbitol. RPLC-InPED conducted using a mobile phase containing acetonitrile in acetate buffer with post-column addition of ca. 0.1 M NaOH plus 25 ppm glucosamine provided detection limits ranging from 0.8-1 muM. The utility of both analytical methods was demonstrated with the assays of several over-the-counter health supplement formulations.Manual injections were performed using a pneumatically controlled PEEK Rheodyne (Cotati, CA) injection valve during ... a Millipore Elix-3 electrodeionization station coupled to a Milli-Q A10 water purification system ( Millipore, Billerica, MA).
