| 1 | Environmental damage and consequences This report discusses the changes in surface morphology; vegetation; the marine habitats; the state of coral growth, predators, biofouling, bioerosion, population and marine environment, and consequences of environmental damage and its consequences in Laccadive were studied. The atoll habitat is fragile hence easily falls prey to human activities like active settlement, extensive cultivation of crops, military establishment, atomic test, oil exploitation, pollution of various kinds, overexploitation of resources etc. Brisk development in activities have led to deterioration of the atolls. Mangroves are lost, change in surface morphology is seen, and pollution is seen to have drastic effects on the environment of the atolls and lagoons in Laccadive I.
